Parent Volunteer Sign-Ups are Open!

Swimarin is a non-profit organization run completely by volunteers. The success of the swim team is dependent on parent participation. In 2010, we will continue with the volunteer point system that was introduced in 2007. This system is designed to fairly allocate jobs among the Swimarin families. Each volunteer job will have a specific value. Each family will be required to sign up for a set number volunteer jobs (and points!) during the 2010 season. The required points per family will be determined by the total number of families that enroll for the season. i.e. more families who enroll translates into less volunteer points per family.

Several weeks prior to Time Trials (05/01/10), we will publish Volunteer Assignments for the entire season based upon your on-line sign-ups. In addition, if your swimmer is participating in Championships, you will be expected to assist during this event. Details to be announced on a later date for those participating.
If you are unable to volunteer for the 2010 Season, we offer a Volunteer Commitment Buy-Out option. This year the buy-out fee is $350. If a swimmer chooses to practice, but not swim in meets, families still must meet their volunteer obligation or pay the buy-out fee. Your family is responsible for completing the jobs you have signed up for. If you find that you are unable to fulfill your commitment you are responsible for finding a replacement. If you do not complete/fulfill your job, there will be a $100 no show fee assessed for each volunteer “no show”.

Snack Bar Contributions
Our snack bar is a vital revenue source for Swimarin. Without it, we cannot pay our coaches or rent our pool. So every family must help stock the snack bar (and, hopefully, buy from it!). Before each home meet, we will post Snack Bar Assignments for all home swim meets. This assignment schedule instructs each family to bring certain food or drink to our home meets in order to supply our snack bar.
If you prefer, you have the option to “Buy Out” your weekly food or beverage contribution and make a payment of $100 for the season in place of your four food and beverage donations. These funds will be used to purchase items we sell at the Snack Bar that are not on the donation list. If you would like to opt out, please mail your check for $100 payable to Swimarin Snack Bar, 319 Point San Pedro Road, San Rafael, CA 94901, by April 24, 2010.
